Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI)
Spurring Measurable Change in National Health Security
The Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security (JHU), and the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) believe that, over time, the GHS Index will spur measurable changes in national health security and improve the international capability to address one of the world’s most omnipresent risks: infectious disease outbreaks that can lead to international epidemics and pandemics.
Forum One worked with NTI to determine the most effective visual presentations to communicate the meaning behind the data, including histograms to illustrate ranges and distributions, and key highlights graphics. We developed visualizations that allow users to filter the data by preparedness score vs. relative rank.
Technology that Supports Action
We designed and developed the new GHS Index website in WordPress, with a variety of interactive maps and data visualizations powered by JavaScript technologies to help users explore and compare country data.
Users can dig into detailed country data on specific indicators and categories and compare data across different countries. Our team also developed a score simulator for each country that allows users to see how changes in specific indicator scores would change a country’s overall preparedness score and rank.
