This week, we all discovered how fast we can type with this well-designed and fun typing speed test from LiveChat. Its an interesting way to get people to learn more about their software, and we certainly had a good time sharing our results. We were a little disappointed to find out most of us are “Octopus” despite different speeds. Test it out and find out how fast you can type!

It’s the end of the year, so it’s “best-of” list time, it seems. This week, we had a look at the “Websites of the Year 2016” according to the CSS Design Awards. As well as being a nice collection of some really beautiful websites, the award website itself is also really well designed! Give the site a bookmark, and if you ever find yourself in a creative block, check out the collection and gather some inspiration.

Have you ever thought about the insane amount of design in a movie? Every single item on screen has been carefully thought out, it blows my mind if I start thinking about how much work goes into creating a film. Recent release Arrival is no exception, and they had the added challenge of creating a new visual language for an alien species. This piece from Wired reviews how the production designers created the look for the language, and it is fascinating!

And finally…holiday ads are a big deal in the UK, I’m not ashamed to admit this one made me tear up.
