What is Your Generative AI & Data Policy?

Your peers are using Generative AI every day, all over the world. You probably are too. This is the 2024 reality. However, what is your Generative AI policy? Do you even have one? What about a data policy that you expect to cover GenAI too?

The recent Executive Order on AI is pushing the US government to understand and leverage all aspects of AI. Yet there isn’t an internal Generative AI system yet for most Federal agencies, and data governance policies prohibits inputting non-public data into any public tool – AI or otherwise. As a result, government staff cannot use public GenAI to write internal documents, assess confidential submissions, or analyze private data.

Is your company in the same quandary? Or are you deliberate and safe with how staff are using company data on these platforms?

Please RSVP Now to join us in-person as we explore questions like:

  • What are the compelling opportunities for GenAI in our work?
  • Where should we draw the line on confidential data usage?
  • How can we navigate the tension between local laws and firm policies?
  • Who is innovating on GenAI & data policies, and what are they learning?

Please RSVP Now to join the next Tech Salon to debate the intersection of Generative AI, data governance, and international development. We’ll discuss efforts like:

  • Forum One is developing a guide on how organizations can navigate GenAI in operations, data, and data communications.
  • The Center for Democracy in Technology has a new Generative AI Usage Policy to balance staff usage with data privacy.
  • Exchange.Design developed evidencebase.ai, a data-protecting retrieval augmented generation (RAG) platform.
  • Vital Wave is assessing health data governance legal and policy environments in LMICs.
  • Center for AI Policy has model Responsible AI legislation for Federal agencies
  • Enable just launched an African data governance fund to create a human-centric data economy.

Please RSVP now to join these leaders in finding balance between GenAI usage and data governance in international development:

We’ll have breakfast catering for a morning rush, but in-person seating is limited. Once we reach our 35-person capacity there will be a waiting list!

About the Technology Salon

The Technology Salon™ is an intimate, informal, and in-person, discussion between information and communication technology experts and international development professionals, with a focus on both:

  • Technology’s impact on donor-sponsored technical assistance delivery.
  • Private enterprise driven economic development, facilitated by technology.

Our meetings are lively conversations, not boring presentations. Attendance is capped at 35 people – and frank participation with ideas, opinions, and predictions is actively encouraged.

It’s also a great opportunity to meet others motivated to employ technology to solve vexing development problems.

Are you ready to create impact?

We'd love to connect and discuss your next project.
