Managing Director, West Coast / Director, Mobile Services

The bridging of divides — East and West, technology and users, nonprofit causes and for-profit enterprises, art and science, new and old — is what keeps Nam-ho constantly exploring and makes him an asset to the Forum One team. He has worked in Alexandria, Korea, Vietnam, and currently Seattle. Nam-ho has a passion for connecting nonprofits and government agencies with Internet and mobile technologies that further their impact and reach.

Nam-ho not only has a deep understanding of how to launch a website, but he can also design a physical building. Armed with a Master's of Architecture from Columbia University, Nam-ho is an expert in how websites, just like standing structures, are built from the ground up. This unique background means he can wear many hats at Forum One, including web developer, information architect, user experience specialist, and now, regional director and mobile services director.

Nam-ho’s versatility and ability to adapt come from a lifetime spent across the world. Born in Seoul, he grew up moving between Korea and the United Kingdom. He says Seoul, now the home of Samsung, LG, and Hyundai, has come a long way from the Korea where he grew up. Nam-ho’s recent work in Korea reflects the country’s surge of innovation. He worked with the Daum Foundation to develop events, training, and tools to help nonprofits make better use of online resources, such as social media. He also organized Korea’s TEDxSeoul event, founded UXCamp Seoul, and is a member of Creative Commons Korea.

During a hiatus in Hanoi, Vietnam, Nam-ho contributed to the city’s Master Urban Plan for 2030, liaising with the government and nonprofits, to develop a sustainable urban plan to protect cultural and environmental resources and  balance the pressures of rapid growth. Abroad, he always enjoys local cuisine but recognizes he can’t live without the Korean condiment kimchi.

Stateside, Nam-ho is a member of NTEN and Kiva.org. He has worked with many influential US-based clients to get their messages to the broadest audiences possible. One such stand-out project was evaluating the UN’s “Reliefweb,” visiting New York, Geneva, London, and Nairobi to interview the website’s users and stakeholders. When he’s not creating  web and mobile technology strategies, implementing user experience expertise, or even architecting buildings, you might catch Nam-ho either biking around town or glued to a documentary.

You may not know: Nam-ho can solve a Rubik’s cube — just don’t ask how long it will take!
