Youth OnlineYoung people are savvy online consumers. In fact, according to the Pew Internet & American Life Project’s 2004 Report on Teenage Life Online:
In the days and years to come, how will web interactions evolve to meet the increasingly sophisticated demands of America’s youth who spend more and more time online? Forum One believes that it is important to meet this challenge – yet meet it in a way that is safe and meaningful. Forum One Communications' Backyard Jungle is rising to this challenge. Licensed to PBS Kids, Backyard Jungle is a unique Web site for 9-12 year olds. Its interactive and collaborative tools let kids explore nature in their own backyards. Since its debut in 2002, Backyard Jungle has become a top-ranked science education resource for kids and teens. With over 65,000 members, Backyard Jungle offers kids who love the outdoors a safe community where they can share their ideas about the world around them and learn from their peers around the globe. Forum One Communications has also worked with Nemours Health and Prevention Services to research and recommend innovative and effective strategies for engaging young people online for better health. We developed a strategic plan that helped Nemours weigh the challenges of managing and monitoring online interventions against the promise of positively shaping health behaviors that will last a lifetime. Our team is passionate about finding innovative ways to use internet technologies to reach and engage young people. We tackle the challenges head on because we know we are shaping the next generation. |
