Consultative Group to Assist the Poor Reaches Mobile Users with a Redesigned Website

The Consultative Group to Assist the Poor, CGAP, came to us with a thoughtful set of wireframes, designs, and with the knowledge that they wanted to use mobile responsive design, but without knowing how to implement it. Deeper analysis, and a visit to DrupalCon, led to prioritizing mobile and deploying a responsive web design that accommodates the smaller screens of smartphone and tablet users – the first organization within The World Bank to do so.

CreateathonDC: A Weekend Redesign for Local Bike Nonprofit

In Phoenix Bikes' small workshop in Arlington, amazing things are happening. Teens are learning how to repair and sell used bikes, providing an inexpensive way for community members to get around town, reduce car pollution, and get exercise. But more importantly, the youths are learning valuable life skills and coming together as a team with a common goal.

Unfortunately, their website barely told their great story.

After 72 intense and caffeine-chugging hours this past weekend, Forum One and a team of volunteers gathered by Web Development Group had created a new web presence for Phoenix Bikes as part of CreateathonDC

Aspen Ideas Festival Goes Responsive (And So Can You)

Forum One is proud to announce that the Aspen Ideas Festival has relaunched their site in time for their 2012 event using the responsive design solution we developed for them. We created a product that will work across desktop PCs, iPhones, iPads, Androids, Blackberries, and, well, really any device that can display a web page.

DVBIC.org: Leading the Response to Traumatic Brain Injury

Throughout our history, when we dedicate ourselves, our nation has accomplished tremendous feats in a short time. It took only six years to defeat the Axis Powers during World War II, eight years to put a human on the moon, and 13 years to sequence the Human Genome.

Site Launch: County Health Rankings & Roadmaps

Adult obesity, unemployment, lack of insurance, and air pollution are among the many health factors that affect our quality of life. And because these factors vary place to place, the health of a community depends on understanding these measures so local leaders can work to improve the health of the people in their communities.

What's Behind Turning Data into Action

Educators today have a tremendous amount of data available to them about their students. The challenge: How that data can strengthen teaching and learning.

That’s where Closing the Gap: Turning Data into Action comes in. As the name suggests, this project, launched by Gartner Inc., the Consortium of School Networking (CoSN) and the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), helps educators use data to take effective action.

Behind the Design: The EPA's Greenhouse Gas Data Tool

Update: Since this post was published, the EPA has awarded a contract to Forum One to develop their next-generation EPA.gov.

Last week, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) launched the Greenhouse Gas Data Tool, which identifies major sources of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States. Forum One designed the online tool, and SAIC built it.

Site Redesign: The What Works Clearinghouse Evaluates Education Research

At Forum One, we are passionate about driving progress in U.S. education. And while there are plenty of ideas on how to improve programs and policies, they can be difficult to interpret. Luckily, the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences (IES) has an initiative called the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) that reviews education research to help answer the question, “What works in education?”
